Ruth Dilts created magic with beading, couching and the twisted stem stitch, among other techniques. I have taught a class from the book. It features 12 different techniques, each wonderfully illustrated. The bonus is that it also features 12 stitch guides with complete directions and very clear color photographs. The book and one of the featured canvases (say, like this Santa) would make a super present.
