When I lived in California, I don’t remember a single store carrying belt canvases. Moving to the Midwest, I discovered that needlepoint belts are a big deal and a lot of fun. They are very portable—you can stitch in the car, waiting in the orthodontist’s office or the carpool line, just about anywhere. And they’re not just for belts—you can have them finished as thong sandals with a leather, foam or platform foam base, as dog leashes, as a trim around a purse or a hat….
